I had to find out if this was a crashed X-Wing

but it looked like it was half a planet away

I still had to know

I mean I knew it was Earth in as much as I think I remember that I was supposed to be on Earth but these days I don’t really take anything for granted

and if I had just showed up you would have never convinced me I was on a blue planet

Hawaiian culture has zero problem embracing their origins among the stars. Conversations of the original inhabitants of these South Pacific paradises always eventually lead back to the space gods who came. It’s not hard to imagine a huge spaceship showing up at Kealakekua like Captain Cook did, or at South Point where the first wave of inner-island brown colonizers arrived.

I can’t build with someone who is gonna change up and fly away

Ok so somewhere there’s gotta be another post about our trip to DC. This one is about the locals I met outside the 7-11.

I’ve never been scared of cockroaches or whatever, and I’ve actually always kind of appreciated them because they just do their thing. Since I moved to Hawaii though and became friends with the slower bigger ones on the beach my tolerance has turned into affection.

See the one thing I really appreciate about cockroaches is they haven’t changed in a million years. I value consistency over flashiness and so while the caterpillar deserves all the success he can find flying around- we never expected him to be around forever. So I’m gonna stay building with the consistent ones.

I wanted to build a monkey army

and you have to know how serious I am about that

but then I found out that a large majority of the monkeys have herpes- which fatal to humans and can be transmitted through bite or scratch. So maybe we wouldn’t spend THAT MUCH time with them but I had to at least go hang out with them. And if there wasn’t enough time (we only had 72 hours to go from Portland to Tampa Bay to the Ocala Forest and back) then we at least needed to meet them and take some selfies.

so then we gave up on the river and tried the savannah grasses growing through the sand

and then through the bog

we ended up giving up for the day but keeping our vibe high. I wasn’t ready to admit defeat and held on to the belief that there was no way we could possibly fly across country and fail in the mission.

and then came back the next day on a super short schedule

the plane home waits for nobody

we decided to stay close to the river but walk the shoreline

I HAD ONE LAST PLAN TO TRY

she would never lie and you can see the truth in her eyes…

i found this guy bouncing off flowers at a natural underground spring called Silver Glen Springs in Ocala Florida. This place was full of real cartoon style vultures but I found them easily more pleasant than the local Trump supporters
